Summer Trip to Haiti
The Walk is heading to Haiti, May 29-June 5, 2010. One Vision International (http://www.onevisionintl.org) has offered to take along 40 college students to help with some light construction and work with their orphanage.
But before you sign up…there are a few intensely important details you need to know. If this trip would be your first mission trip, Haiti might not be the best fit. Safety is one of our biggest concerns, and the political and literal climate of Haiti are both important considerations. Temperatures during the time we will be in Haiti will reach above ninety-degrees. Sickness is almost inevitable. The conditions will be rough, to put it lightly. So if this will be your first mission trip, we advise against you signing up.
UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 13, 2010: WITH THE RECENT EARTHQUAKE AFFECTING HAITI, SOME OF THE WORK WE HAVE PLANNED FOR THE TRIP MAY CHANGE. PLEASE BE FLEXIBLE AS WE FIGURE OUT THE EXACT RESPONSIBILITIES. IF YOU ARE GOING ON THE TRIP, WE WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED OF ANY CHANGES WITH THE TRIP.

• Hepatitis A and B
• Typhoid

• Malaria Pills - All of the following antimalarial drugs are equal options for preventing malaria in Haiti: Atovaquone/proguanil, chloroquine, doxycycline, or mefloquine.
